A training session for potential accreditors of tertiary level programs was held on July 15, 2022, by the Commissions on Tertiary Education, Information Technology Education, Engineering and Architecture, Graduate Education, and Basic Medical Education of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. The day began with an opening prayer followed by a welcome statement by the president of the ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees, Br. Edmundo Fernandez, FSC.
The morning session began with a lecture on ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ, the nature of accreditation, standards-based accreditation, and the new survey instrument by Mr. Ricardo Palo, the Executive Director of ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ. The afternoon session was devoted to a lecture on the accrediting procedure, the tasks and responsibilities of the accreditor, and writing good area reports, which was provided by Prof. Leonida Africa, Chair of the Commission on Tertiary Education.
The participants also had the opportunity to practice report writing. They were given areas to focus on and were assigned to validate and answer recommendations the previous team gave, write an analysis and evidence narrative, and come up with commendations and recommendations. Several commission members led the writing session.
Dr. Lucila Calairo, Commission on Tertiary Education member, facilitated the training workshop and 306 participants attended.
